Martin Kautz is a German actor and voice artist, born on February 27, 1979, in Potsdam. His career is rooted in a diverse performing arts background. He received piano and drum lessons from the age of ten and played in various youth orchestras, including the Federal Youth Orchestra. He also pursued junior studies in classical percussion at the Julius Stern Institute in Berlin. Later, he studied acting in Zurich and received classical vocal training. Before gaining prominence as a voice actor, he performed on stage at venues such as the Schauspielhaus Zurich and the Thalia Theater in Hamburg.

Since the late 2000s, Kautz has become known for his extensive work as a dubbing artist, lending his voice to hundreds of roles in films, television series, and video games. He is the German voice for numerous international actors, with frequent collaborations including Jon Bernthal, Joel Edgerton, Joel Kinnaman, Michael Ealy, and Taylor Kinney.

In the realm of anime and animation, Kautz has taken on several prominent roles. Since 2006, he has been the German voice of the character Shuichi Akai in the long-running anime series Detective Conan, starting from episode 307. He has also voiced this character in related animated films, such as Detective Conan: The Scarlet Alibi and Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet. He provided the German voice for the character Falco in the 2022 anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. In the 2013 anime film Iron Man: Rise of Technovore, he voiced Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher.

Beyond his work in anime, Kautz has voiced a wide array of characters in other animated productions, such as in the films Rio, Wreck-It Ralph, and Zootopia. He has also been the German voice for iconic characters like Darth Vader in recent Star Wars films and series, including Rogue One and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Since 2013, he has also been a station voice for the German free TV channel ProSieben Maxx.
