Tommy Salau
Description
Tommy Salau is a Spanish voice actor, adapter, and director based in Barcelona, with a career that began in the early 1990s. Before entering the world of dubbing, he worked for nearly two decades in radio as a presenter, writer, and director for various stations including Radio Cornellá, M80, and Ona Catalana. His interest in voice acting led him to train in vocal interpretation at the Barcelona Theatre Institute. He received his first opportunity in dubbing in 1994 under director Alberto Trifol at QTLever, which marked the start of his gradual transition from radio to a full-time career in audiovisual translation and voice performance.
Salau has built an extensive career providing voices for both Spanish and Catalan language dubs of animated and live-action productions. His work in anime and animation includes a variety of roles. In the Star Wars: Visions series, he voiced Izuma in the episode The Village Bride, as well as the Inquisitor in T0-B1, and both the Narrator and Toguro in The Ninth Jedi for the Spanish dub. His other notable credits in Spanish dubs include Gon in BEASTARS, Zima in Chobits, and Norimasa Hayama in Child of Kamiari Month. In Catalan, his voice work encompasses characters such as General Logi and Fagino in the Blue Dragon series, Pejite in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, and contributions to various Doraemon films and television series. He has also been involved in dubs for live-action works, such as the Spanish version of the Speed Racer film.
Beyond performance, Salau has expanded his expertise into script adaptation and direction. Since 2011, he has collaborated closely with SDI Media, where he works as both an adapter and director. His direction and adaptation credits include the series The Girlfriend Experience and the film Whiplash in Catalan. His work as an adapter was recognized with an ATRAE Award, winning in the category of Best Translation and Adaptation for Dubbing for a Theatrical Release for his work on The Ballad of Buster Scruggs.
