Kōsuke Ōno is a Japanese manga artist best known as the creator of the popular comedy series The Way of the Househusband. He is sometimes credited under the name Kousuke Oono, and the Japanese rendering of his name is おおのこうすけ.

Ōno began his professional manga career in 2016 with a one-shot titled Legend of Music, which was published in the manga magazine Monthly Comic @ Bunch. The Way of the Househusband, which followed in 2018, represents his first serialized work and his first title to be released in English.

The Way of the Househusband is written and illustrated by Ōno and has been serialized in the online manga magazine Kurage Bunch since February 2018. The story follows a former yakuza boss known as the Immortal Dragon, who retires from a life of crime to become a dedicated househusband supporting his career-driven wife. The series is episodic and comedic, with much of the humor derived from the contrast between the protagonist Tatsu’s intimidating yakuza demeanor and his sincere, intense approach to mundane domestic tasks like cooking, cleaning, and shopping.

The manga proved to be highly successful and has been adapted into multiple formats. A live-action television drama aired on Nippon TV in Japan in October 2020. An original net animation series produced by the studio J.C.Staff was released on Netflix in April 2021, with a second season premiering in January 2023. A live-action film adaptation was also released in June 2022.

As the creator of a franchise that has expanded into a live-action drama, multiple anime seasons, and a feature film, Ōno has established a significant presence in the contemporary manga industry. His work is known for its simple, expressive art style and its unique comedic premise, which has resonated with a wide international audience.
