Mika Hijii
Description
Mika Hijii is a Japanese actress and occasional voice actress born on October 13, 1982, in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency Stardust Promotion. Hijii graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration at Hosei University.
Her career began in 2004 with her lead role in the film "Niwatori wa Hadashi da" (aka "The Bare-Footed Chicken"), for which she received the Art Contribution Award at the 17th Tokyo International Film Festival. While she is primarily known for her extensive work in live-action television and film, particularly her long-running role as Kaoru Mitsuki in the "Garo" franchise, she has also contributed her voice to a select number of animated projects.
In the realm of voice acting, Hijii is recognized for two specific roles. She voiced the character Agarta in the 2006 fantasy OVA (original video animation) titled "G-9". This 17-minute short film, directed by Keita Amemiya with whom she frequently collaborated on live-action projects, features Hijii as the sole voice cast member, bringing to life the protagonist who awakens with no memories in a desolate city.
More recently, in 2022, she took on the voice role of Juicy in the animated film "Chibiham, Juicy & Me". This film marks her most recent known voice-acting credit. Her other voice work includes providing the voice for the character Demonic Mirror Horror Karma in the 2010 film "Garo: Red Requiem," a project that, like much of her filmography, is connected to the live-action "Garo" series.
Hijii's career is marked by frequent collaborations with director Keita Amemiya and actors such as Ryosei Konishi and Rei Fujita, primarily within the "Garo" universe. Outside of acting, her notable achievements include winning the first Japan Action Award for Best Action Actress in 2009 for her role in the film "Ninja". She is also skilled in various disciplines, holding a first-grade certificate in the Practical English Proficiency Test and possessing training in tea ceremony, martial arts, and Chinese martial arts.
