Yūko Katō is a Japanese voice actor and narrator from Chiba Prefecture, born on August 2. She is affiliated with the narrator casting organization Inoshishi-chō and works as a freelancer. Her career path is distinctive, as she spent four years as a corporate employee before becoming a host and reporter for four years on the NHK Educational TV science programs for sixth graders, "Hate na Science" and "Shirabete Science". Following this on-screen role, she transitioned to voice acting, focusing primarily on voice work for foreign language dubs, animation, and narration. Over her career, she has used different stage names, including Yūko Katō written as 加藤ゆう子 and 加藤優子, before settling on her current name, 加藤有生子, in 2014.
Katō has built an extensive career in anime television, often voicing supporting characters. She is well known for her long-running role as Sumiko Kobayashi, the homeroom teacher of the Junior Detective League, in the long-running series Detective Conan, a role she has played since at least 2003.
