Ai Tokunaga is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Fukuoka Prefecture, born on March 12, 1981. Her career in the entertainment industry began in 1994 when she passed the Tokyo Performance Doll audition, becoming a trainee and later a front member of the group. She launched her solo singing career in 1999 with the CD Heartful Candy before transitioning to voice acting.

Tokunaga made her voice acting debut in 2001, landing the lead role of Padudu in the original net animation Magical Play. This role marked the start of a prolific career in anime. In 2002, she voiced several characters in prominent series, including Hana in Haibane Renmei, Vivian in Heat Guy J, Viola in Kiddy Grade, and Kokoro in the original video animation Kikō Heidan J-Phoenix: PF Lips Shōtai.

Throughout the 2000s, Tokunaga continued to build an extensive filmography. She played Tsubomi Moroboshi in Ultimate Girls (2005) and Kana Hagino in Canvas 2 - Niji Iro no Sketch, a role she also performed in the 2006 game adaptation. In 2009, she took on two significant roles: Miki Noda in GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class and Maho Yumeno in Saki. Her work in GA was personally significant, as she met her future husband, a member of the anime's staff, while working on the series. In 2011, she voiced two characters, Kuroe and Mei S. Karin, in The Everyday Tales of a Cat God. Other notable anime roles include Peppo in Daa! Daa! Daa! and Cheko-chan in Pugyuru.

Beyond acting, Tokunaga contributed musically to several of her projects. She performed theme songs for series such as Magical Canan, Pugyuru, and GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class, and provided vocals for the Magical Play ending theme Catch Your Dream. Her work also extended to video games, including the role of Miki Noda in the 2017 game Kirara Fantasia. She has also been involved in radio dramas, such as Kira Kira Melody Gakuen.

Throughout her career, Tokunaga was affiliated with talent agencies Arts Vision and Rams before becoming a freelancer in 2010. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she holds qualifications as a pet care specialist.
