Atsuo Omote

Description
Atsuo Omote was a Japanese actor and voice actor. He was born on June 28, 1936, in Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture. His interest in performance was influenced by his father, who wrote reviews for variety halls, leading Omote to become familiar with rakugo from a young age. He later pursued a career as an actor and was involved in the establishment of the Shimanouchi Little Theater in Osaka, a unique venue created in a church chapel in the Shinsaibashi area.

Omote's acting career was significantly impacted in 1983 when he suffered a cerebral infarction that resulted in paralysis on his right side, forcing him to abandon stage acting. Despite this physical setback, he remained active in the performing arts. In 1991, he established a group in Oji Town, Nara Prefecture, dedicated to enjoying performing arts. Through this organization, he organized rakugo performances three times a year, where he was responsible for providing the opening explanations.

As a voice actor, one of his notable roles was providing the voice for Kōzō Yurine in the anime series Chie-chan Funsenki Jarinko Chie, a sequel series that aired from 1991 to 1992. His acting credits also included roles in television dramas such as Asuka, Bubble, and the long-running series Detective Chief. Atsuo Omote passed away on May 9, 2010.
