Sander van der Poel is a Dutch voice actor and voice director, born in Baarn on September 19, 1986. He began his career in voice-over work at a young age, with his first role being the voice of Spanky in the Dutch version of the film The Little Rascals at the age of eight or ten. His early work also included providing voices for characters such as Elliot in E.T. and the title character in Casper.
Van der Poel's career encompasses a wide range of voice work for animation and live-action properties dubbed into Dutch. He is known for voicing Prince Zuko in the Nickelodeon animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender. His other notable roles in animated series include Sonic the Hedgehog in Sonic X, Ferb and Jeremy in Phineas and Ferb, Brett in Team Galaxy, Leonardo in the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, Kick Buttowski in Kick Buttowski: Daredevil, and Aiger Akabane in Beyblade Burst Turbo. In addition to series, he has voiced characters in numerous films, including Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter film series, Green Lantern in The Lego Movie films, Michael Banks in Mary Poppins, and the voice of Sonic the Hedgehog in Wreck-It Ralph and its sequel. He has also contributed guest voices to many other series, such as Totally Spies!, Pokémon, and Ben 10.
Beyond acting, van der Poel works extensively as a voice director for Dutch-language dubs, overseeing productions for major studios including Disney, Sony, Netflix, Nickelodeon, and Warner Bros.. His directing credits include films such as The Lego Ninjago Movie and Dumbo. He is also employed as an executive producer at Fred Butter Soundstudio. Van der Poel studied journalism at the Hogeschool Utrecht from 2006 to 2008 and later attended the TV College in Hilversum. In 1998, he received the Cinekids Award for his lead role in the Dutch version of the film Kirikou and the Sorceress.
