Éric Métayer is a French actor, voice artist, and director, born on January 23, 1958, in Paris. Before embarking on his performance career, he studied art history and plastic arts. His path to acting began with theater training at the Atelier 93 and the Cours Florent. A significant early influence was his involvement with the Ligue Professionnelle d'Improvisation (LPI), where he honed his skills, winning numerous trophies and being named the best player in the world as part of the champion team in 1986.

Métayer's entry into voice acting began in 1993 when he lent his voice to the character Iago in the French dub of Disney's Aladdin. This role launched a prolific career in dubbing, making him a familiar voice in French-language versions of numerous animated films and series. He is notably recognized for voicing Agent Wendy Pikly in the Lilo & Stitch franchise, including the series Stitch!. His other prominent voice roles include Bob Razowski in Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University, Vector in Despicable Me, and various characters in films such as Hercules, A Bug's Life, and the Shrek series.

In addition to his voice work, Métayer has maintained an extensive and celebrated career in theater and film. He has received multiple Molière awards, France's highest theater honor, including for his one-man show Un monde fou in 2008 and for co-writing and directing the play Les Chatouilles ou la danse de la colère with Andréa Bescond in 2016. He and Bescond later adapted this play into a film, which won the César Awards for Best Adaptation and Best First Film in 2019. Throughout his career, Métayer has frequently collaborated with director Pierre Jolivet and appeared as a juror on Laurent Ruquier's television program On n'demande qu'à en rire.
