Rubén Moya was a prominent Mexican actor and director of dubbing, widely recognized for his extensive work in anime, animation, and live-action dubbing for Latin American Spanish. Born on October 31, 1956, in Chilpancingo, Guerrero, Mexico, he began his artistic career in 1979 and built a legacy over more than four decades until his passing on June 11, 2023, in Mexico City. He was known for his distinctive deep and dramatic bass-baritone voice, which he frequently lent to villains and authoritative characters.
Moya's preparation in the arts took place at the Instituto Andrés Soler of the Asociación Nacional de Actores (ANDA) and the Centro de Arte Dramático (CADAC). Beyond his performance work, he was also a dubbing director, a commercial announcer, a lecturer, and a teacher for thirty years, sharing his expertise in the field.
His contributions to the world of anime were significant and varied. He is well-remembered for his role as the voice of Amidamaru, the powerful samurai spirit, in the series Shaman King.
