Cissy Jones

Description
Cissy Jones is an American voice actress known for her extensive work in video games and animation, including roles in English dubs of anime and anime-inspired projects. She provided the voice for the character Mada in the 2020 CG anime film Dragon Quest: Your Story. Her other credits in English-dubbed anime include voicing Kaguya Ōtsutsuki in the Naruto: Shippuden series and related video games, as well as the role of Zamira Tchaikoskaya in Tiger & Bunny 2.

Jones began her career after a decade in the Silicon Valley business world. Inspired by a radio interview with Bart Simpson voice actress Nancy Cartwright, she enrolled in voiceover classes in San Francisco. Her first professional audition led to her being cast as Katjaa in the 2012 video game The Walking Dead, a role that marked the start of her voice-acting career. She subsequently moved to Los Angeles to pursue more opportunities, and after an initial dry spell, she found success, including an eight-year stint as the voice of the Ralphs grocery store chain.

While primarily celebrated for her work in video games, her performances often bridge the gap between Western and Japanese animation styles. In addition to her anime roles, her filmography includes significant characters in Western animation, such as Lilith Clawthorne in the Disney Channel series The Owl House and Elita-1 in Transformers: EarthSpark. Her video game work is particularly prolific, with notable performances including Delilah in Firewatch, Joyce Price in Life Is Strange, Fury in Darksiders III, and Andreja in Starfield.

Throughout her career, Jones has developed recurring collaborations with voice directors and studios. She has frequently worked with the audio production company NYAV Post on various projects, including the English adaptations of anime and animated features. Her work on multiple Telltale Games titles, including various The Walking Dead installments and The Wolf Among Us, also showcases her long-standing relationships within that segment of the gaming industry. In The Walking Dead games alone, she voiced a total of eight distinct characters, the most of any actor in the series.

Jones's approach to her craft emphasizes deep character understanding over mere vocal acrobatics, focusing on what drives a character before determining their voice. Her talent and dedication have earned her significant recognition, most notably a British Academy Games Award (BAFTA) for Best Performer in 2017 for her role as Delilah in Firewatch. Beyond performance, she is also a vocal advocate for voice actors' rights, serving on the advisory board and AI steering committee of the National Association of Voice Actors and co-founding ETHOVOX, an ethical AI voice startup.
