Nico Birnbaum is a German actor and voice actor known for his work in film, television, and dubbing. Born in Kiel in 1977, he initially pursued an academic path, studying literature and philosophy in Aix-en-Provence, France, and later writing his doctoral dissertation on Franz Kafka in Florence, Italy. During his time in Florence, he gained his first professional acting experience at the Scuola Nazionale di Cinema Indipendente, appearing in short films and the feature film Reality News. After completing his PhD with distinction in 2013, he decided to focus entirely on an acting career.
As a voice actor, Birnbaum has lent his voice to numerous characters in international film and television productions for the German market. His voice work encompasses a wide range of genres, including live-action series and animated projects. He provides the German voice for the character Wolfgang Mittermeyer in the anime series The Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These, a role for which he voices the original Japanese actor Daisuke Ono.
