Mimana Orimoto

Description
Mimana Orimoto is a Japanese manga artist and original creator, born on September 24, 1977. He is male and also works under the doujin (self-published) circle name Kenro Kobo. Orimoto is best known as the creator of the manga Bakuon!!, a seinen series about high school girls and motorcycles that began serialization in Akita Shoten’s magazine Young Champion Retsu in February 2011. The series has been collected into numerous tankobon volumes and remains ongoing.

Orimoto’s work on Bakuon!! led to its adaptation into an anime television series. The anime, produced by TMS Entertainment and directed by Junji Nishimura, aired in Japan from April to June 2016 and was later released on home video with two original video animation (OVA) episodes. As the original creator, Orimoto is credited for the manga and its characters, serving as the source material author for the animated adaptation.

Beyond his mainstream success with Bakuon!!, Orimoto has produced a variety of other manga works across different genres and demographics. His completed series include Magic Girl Cat X (Mahou Shoujo Neko X) published by Kadokawa, and Maid in Japan (Meido in Japan) published by Akita Shoten. He has also written several adult manga (R-18), such as Tokimeki Suikoden, Misao My Love, and the short story collection The Lies of Gender - Orimoto Mimana Change H Short Stories. An incomplete work titled Penkoi was published by Nihon Bungeisha. Additionally, he contributed to a spin-off of his flagship series, Bakuon!! Taiwan-hen, for which he is credited as the creator while the script was written by Guiya Ota. Orimoto also worked on the adult anime Issho ni H Shiyo as a character designer and supervisor.

Orimoto’s artistic identity is defined by a dual career. Bakuon!! stands as his only long-running mainstream series, while the majority of his other published works fall under the adult manga and doujinshi categories. This makes him an example of a creator who successfully transitioned from niche adult material to a commercially successful seinen series with a broad media mix adaptation. His work on Bakuon!!, particularly its focus on motorcycle culture and comedy, demonstrates his range beyond adult content. In the industry, Orimoto is recognized primarily as the author of Bakuon!!, which has maintained a consistent publication run for over a decade and received a full anime adaptation, solidifying his place as a notable creator in the seinen manga field.
