Gray G. Haddock
Description
Gray G. Haddock is an American actor and film producer known for his extensive work in voice acting, particularly in English dubs of anime and in original animated web series. His career in voice acting began in 1995, and he was active in the industry for over two decades.
Haddock's voice acting portfolio includes a significant number of roles in English adaptations of Japanese anime. One of his early and most notable roles was as Sanosuke Sagara in several adaptations of Rurouni Kenshin, beginning with the 1997 film Rurouni Kenshin: Requiem for the Ishin Patriots and later reprising the role in Rurouni Kenshin: Reflection and the Rurouni Kenshin: New Kyoto Arc films. He also voiced Lei Wulong in the 1998 film Tekken: The Motion Picture and Archanfel in the 2005 series Guyver: The Bioboosted Armor. Other prominent anime voice roles include Oreldo in Pumpkin Scissors, Yousuke Fuuma in Wedding Peach, and Postino in Jing: King of Bandits. In the Initial D Legend film trilogy, consisting of Awakening, Racer, and Dream, he provided the English voice for the character Keisuke Takahashi. He also voiced Ukon Tanaka in the Moeyo Ken film and Hydra in the Tattoon Master OVA series.
In 2011, Haddock joined the Austin-based production studio Rooster Teeth as a visual effects artist. This marked a significant shift in his career, as he became increasingly involved in production and directing while continuing to voice act. At Rooster Teeth, he became the head of the animation department in 2014. He is well known for voicing the villain Roman Torchwick in the studio's acclaimed web series RWBY and Locus in Red vs. Blue. Beyond voice acting, Haddock took on major creative roles, serving as a co-director and producer for RWBY from its third volume onward and later creating, writing, and directing the mecha series gen:LOCK.
Haddock left Rooster Teeth in 2019. Following his departure, his final voice role for the studio was as Leon August in gen:LOCK. He later voiced the character Spinister in the 2020 Netflix animated series Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy. His body of work reflects a long-standing career that bridges the era of classic anime dubbing and the rise of modern, Western-produced animation.
