Hendrik Martz

Description
Hendrik Martz is a German actor and voice artist, born in Hamburg on May 9, 1968. He first became known to a wide audience as a teenager for his role in the 1984 ZDF television series Patrik Pacard. Following his early success, he appeared in numerous popular German television series throughout the 1980s and 1990s, including Die Wicherts von nebenan, Großstadtrevier, Der Landarzt, Gegen den Wind, and Verbotene Liebe. Alongside his on-screen work, Martz pursued formal training in New York at the Neighborhood Playhouse, where he studied the Meisner technique. This foundation in method acting would later inform his work as a leading coach for actors.

In addition to his career as a screen actor, Martz has built a substantial body of work as a voice actor, lending his voice to numerous characters in German dubs of films and television series. His voice acting credits span a variety of genres, including animation and live-action productions. One notable role in the anime genre is his portrayal of the antagonist Talos in the 2014 CGI film Appleseed Alpha, a prequel to the Appleseed series. His other significant anime and animation voice roles include Allelujah Haptism in Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Blitz in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, and Charles Bennett Satō in the 2014 live-action film Black Butler. More recently, he provided the voice for Dr. Don't in the animated series Sonic Prime from 2022 to 2024. His dubbing work also extends to live-action television, such as voicing Brandon Bishop in the series Ghost Whisperer.

While Martz has collaborated with various actors and voice artists throughout his long career, public records do not indicate any specific, recurring professional partnerships with particular directors or other voice actors in the field of dubbing. His work spans many different productions and studios.

A significant aspect of Martz's professional life, particularly in recent years, is his work as a renowned acting and communication coach. He is the co-founder of the training institute Martz & Walker and the NowHere Akademie, where he teaches the Meisner technique and coaches actors, speakers, and business professionals. This focus on education and training represents a major shift in his career, building on his extensive experience in front of the camera and behind the microphone. His achievements are therefore not only in his performances but also in his contribution to actor training and development in Germany.
