Kana Akutsu

Kana Akutsu was a Japanese voice actress active in the anime industry from 2007 until her retirement at the end of 2015. She was born on October 30, 1987, in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. After graduating from high school, she enrolled in the Tokyo Announce Gakuin broadcasting school in 2006 to pursue her goal of becoming a voice actress. Her professional career began after she was scouted by the talent agency Mausu Promotion, an opportunity that arose from her success in passing the first Newcomer Discovery Audition at the Voice Actor Awards.
Akutsu's first major role, which also served as her debut performance, was as Henrietta in the 2008 anime series Gunslinger Girl: Il Teatrino. This role in a well-known series helped establish her presence in the industry. Throughout her career, she took on a variety of characters in television anime, original video animations, and video games. She is known for playing the character Shōko Tsuchida in the television anime Softenni! in 2011. In 2012, she voiced the title character Minori in the OVA Minori Scramble! and also performed the opening and ending theme songs for it. The following year, in 2013, she was the voice of Mushufushu in the television anime Leviathan: The Last Defense and Airi Kuze in the OVA Kagaku na Yatsura.
Her work extended beyond these roles to include a range of other notable performances. In the 2012 video game Fire Emblem: Awakening, she provided the voice for the character Tharja. She also voiced Mine in the 2013 anime series Amnesia and Flameu in the 2014 anime series Atelier Escha & Logy: Alchemists of the Dusk Sky.
Beyond acting, Akutsu was involved in radio and music. She was a regular personality on several radio programs produced by her agency. She was also a member of the voice actress unit Tsukineko, and in 2013, the group was appointed as tourism ambassadors for Tokushima.
On December 27, 2015, Kana Akutsu announced on her personal Twitter account that she would be retiring from the entertainment industry, officially ending her career as a voice actress on December 31, 2015.
