Asuka Kakumoto
Description
Asuka Kakumoto is a Japanese voice actress born in Saitama Prefecture on April 8, 1992. She decided on a career as a voice actress during her third year of high school and later graduated from the Tokyo Broadcasting Academy vocational school. Her first and successful audition was for the role of Elena Shimabara in the game The Idolmaster Million Live, which also marked her debut in 2013. In 2014, she landed one of her first major anime roles as Niko Ōno in the television series Engaged to the Unidentified.
Kakumoto's career is closely linked to The Idolmaster franchise, where she voices Elena Shimabara. This role led to significant performance opportunities, including live concerts, and fostered recurring collaborations with fellow voice actors from the series, such as Yuri Komagata and Kanako Nomura. Another notable and unique aspect of her work is providing the voice for Unity-chan, the official mascot character of the Unity game development engine, as well as AKAZA, a VOCALOID software mascot that uses the same voice library. Her other voice roles in anime include appearances in A Week Friends, New Game!, and The Original Kindle, and in games such as Fate/Grand Order, Monster Strike, and Brown Dust.
Beyond voice acting, Kakumoto has demonstrated skill in radio hosting. She co-hosted the long-running program Dara Raji from 2016 to 2020 and later launched her own channel, Kakumoto Asuka's Shaberiba, on YouTube in 2020. Throughout her career, she has been affiliated with several agencies, starting at Space Craft, moving to Apollo Bay in early 2021, and eventually joining Voice Kit in October 2024.
