Shannon Chan-Kent

Description
Shannon Chan-Kent is a Canadian voice actress and singer recognized for her extensive work in English dubs of anime and animated series. Born on September 23, 1988, in Vancouver, British Columbia, she has built a career spanning both voice acting and stage performance, the latter as a trained opera singer with a soprano voice. She holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Opera from the University of British Columbia and has performed with the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra.

Chan-Kent is perhaps best known within the anime community for her role as the English voice of Misa Amane in the popular series Death Note. She provided the voice for the character in the original anime series as well as in the compilation films Death Note Relight - Visions of a God and Death Note Relight 2 - L's Successors. Her portrayal captured the character's energetic and devoted, yet tragic, nature. Another notable anime role includes voicing Miyuki Konno, the younger sister of the protagonist, in the acclaimed film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. Her other anime credits include Christina Sierra in Mobile Suit Gundam 00 and Fabiola Iglesias in Black Lagoon: Roberta's Blood Trail.

Beyond anime, Chan-Kent has had a prolific career in Western animation, often working on productions out of the Vancouver voice acting community. She is widely recognized for her contributions to the My Little Pony franchise, most notably as the singing voice of the character Pinkie Pie for the majority of the series My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic and its associated films and specials. She also voiced other characters in the series, such as Silver Spoon and the dragon Smolder. Her other prominent roles include voicing the Biskit twins, Whittany and Brittany, and Youngmee Song in Littlest Pet Shop, and taking on the role of Amy Rose in the series Sonic Prime. She has also had significant parts in series such as Slugterra as Beatrice "Trixie" Sting and in Pucca as the Chief.

Throughout her career, Chan-Kent has frequently collaborated with other Vancouver-based voice actors and studios, including Ocean Productions, which handled the English dubs for many of her anime roles. Her achievements lie not only in the volume and variety of her voice work but also in her unique skill as a classically trained singer, which allowed her to seamlessly integrate singing into her voice acting performances, most notably for a central character in a globally popular series.
