Choji Yoshikawa

Choji Yoshikawa is a Japanese multi-creator and producer known for his extensive work in anime and manga production. He serves as the representative of the creative studio Studio Shun and was formerly affiliated with Red Company, the studio established by Hiroshi Kaneda. Yoshikawa has worked across a variety of roles, including anime production, game development, songwriting, and original story creation.
One of Yoshikawa's notable original works is the manga and anime series Live On Cardliver Kakeru. He is credited as the original creator and story writer for this property. The manga was serialized in Poplar Publishing's Gekkan Comic Boom Boom magazine from October 2007 to October 2009 and was compiled into six tankobon volumes. The series was drawn by illustrator AIYAH-BALL. The story follows a boy named Takeru Amao who becomes involved in a card battle game called Live-On, where he can transform into monsters using cards generated by a creature named Paddy. The manga inspired a 51-episode anime adaptation produced by the animation studio TMS Entertainment. The anime, directed by Hatsuki Tsuji, aired on TV Tokyo from October 5, 2008, to September 27, 2009. The series was later broadcast internationally, including in Italy under the title Live-On: scegli la tua carta! on Rai 2 starting July 21, 2013.
Beyond this work, Yoshikawa is widely recognized for his long-standing contributions to the Pocket Monsters (Pokémon) anime franchise. He has held various production roles across numerous television series and theatrical films, including associate producer for the original television series, producer for many of the earlier theatrical films from 1998 onward, and animation coordinator for later series. His production credits on the Pokémon films include Gekijouban Pocket Monsters: Mewtwo no Gyakushuu, Gekijouban Pocket Monsters: Maboroshi no Pokemon Lugia Bakutan, Gekijouban Pocket Monsters: Kesshoutou no Teiou Entei, and many subsequent installments through the Diamond & Pearl and Best Wishes! eras. He has also worked as a scriptwriter and storyboard artist on the horror anime anthology series Yamishibai, contributing to multiple seasons including the eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteenth seasons.
Yoshikawa has also been involved in video game production, such as on the title High Pressure Boy, and has penned lyrics for music. He made regular radio appearances on the program Inuyama Inuko no Pokemon Awā under the name Professor Yoshikawa, where he answered listener questions about Pokémon.
