Shay Moore
Description
Shay Moore is a voice actress known for her work in the English dubs of several anime series produced by Funimation Entertainment. Her career in voice acting began after a lengthy and successful background in radio broadcasting. A native of Queens, New York, who also spent time in Atlanta, Georgia, she is a graduate of Johnson C. Smith University with a degree in Communications. Before entering the world of voiceover, Moore built a career spanning over two decades in urban radio, working in major markets including Atlanta, Dallas, and Kansas City, where she has hosted morning shows and nationally syndicated programs. She has openly discussed overcoming a childhood stutter to achieve success in vocal professions.
Moore's transition to anime voice acting occurred after she took an acting class to improve her commercial presentation. Her teacher encouraged her to audition for Funimation, which led to her being cast in her first role. Her most prominently documented voice role is Lizzie Garland in the 2009 anime series Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~. Lizzie is a secondary character who serves as a bodyguard, and Moore provided the English voice for the character across the majority of the series' episodes. Her role in Phantom was officially announced by Funimation in 2010 as part of the English dub cast.
Following her debut, she was cast as Mira Naigus in the Funimation dub of the popular series Soul Eater, a role that helped introduce her to a wider anime audience. In addition to these parts, she voiced small roles in the anime Eden of the East. Her voice acting work has also extended beyond anime; she has been featured in an animated adaptation of The Walking Dead. Furthermore, Moore has lent her vocal talents to national commercial campaigns for major brands such as Publix and Coca-Cola.
