Shinichirō Nariie
Description
Shinichirō Nariie is a Japanese manga artist and writer. He first gained professional recognition by creating the manga adaptation of the light novel series Absolute Duo, written by Takumi Hiiragi-Boshi. This project established his career in the industry prior to developing his own original works.
Nariie is best known as the original creator of the manga series See You Tomorrow at the Food Court. The story follows two high school girls, the reserved honor student Wada and the intimidating fashionista Yamamoto, who meet daily at a shopping mall food court. The series distinguishes itself by focusing entirely on the casual, aimless conversations between the two protagonists, capturing the ordinary yet irreplaceable moments of adolescence.
The manga began as a webcomic that Nariie published on his personal Twitter account in October 2019. Its gentle, slice-of-life depiction of friendship gained attention on social media, leading to its acquisition by the publisher Kadokawa Shoten. The series started official serialization on Kadokawa's Comic Newtype website in March 2020. The first compiled tankōbon volume was released in March 2021, with a second volume following in March 2025. The series has been licensed for English publication by Yen Press.
An anime television series adaptation of See You Tomorrow at the Food Court is scheduled to premiere in July 2025. The adaptation is produced by the animation studio Atelier Pontdarc, with direction by Kazuomi Koga and scripts by Jukki Hanada. The upcoming anime release has brought broader attention to Nariie's work as an original creator. For the Blu-ray release of the anime, Nariie contributed newly drawn illustration artwork, highlighting his continued direct involvement with adaptations of his series.
