Shingo Katori
Description
Shingo Katori is a Japanese entertainer whose career encompasses singing, acting, and television hosting, with occasional work in anime voice acting. Born in Yokohama on January 31, 1977, he rose to fame as the youngest member of the popular boy band SMAP. While his primary fame stems from his music and live-action performances, he has contributed his voice to a number of anime and animated projects.
Katori's voice acting roles span several decades. One of his earliest and most frequently cited roles is Riiya, a werewolf boy, in the anime series Akazukin Chacha, which aired from 1994 to 1995. In 1994, he also voiced the character Haohmaru in the animated film Samurai Shodown: The Motion Picture, based on the popular video game series. A later prominent role was providing the voice for Naki, a red ogre, in the 2011 CG anime film Friends: Mononoke Shima no Naki.
His other voice work includes a role in the 2003 Astro Boy series, a part in a 2007 episode of Chibi Maruko-chan, and providing the Japanese voice for a character in the 2007 puppet animation film Strings: Love and Bonds. He also voiced a character in the 2018 educational anime project Nippon no Rekishi. These roles are dispersed throughout his broader career as a leading figure in Japanese entertainment, rather than representing a focused pursuit of voice acting as a primary profession.
