Gilles Tamiz was a French actor and voice actor, born on December 30, 1948, in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France. He built a substantial career in dubbing, providing the French voices for numerous characters in animated series and films, as well as for live-action television and movies.

Tamiz is perhaps best recognized for his work in several acclaimed animated series from the 1980s and 1990s. He is credited as the voice of Pierrot and Petit Gros in the popular French educational series Il était une fois... la Vie, known in Japan as Seimei no Kagaku Micro Patrol. He also voiced the character Pierrot in the subsequent series, Il était une fois... les Découvreurs. Another significant role was Oon in Jayce et les Conquérants de la Lumière. His other notable animation voice credits include Diploperfo in Diplodo, the Puppet Master in the French dub of Ghost in the Shell, and various roles in Robotech, where he voiced Kyle Lynn in the Macross segment and Lancer in the Mospeada segment. He also contributed voices to Les Mystérieuses Cités d'Or, providing the voice for a Spanish soldier, and had a role as one of the Little Green Men in the French dub of Toy Story.

Beyond animation, Tamiz was active in dubbing live-action productions. His work included providing the French voice for actors such as Scott Baio in the series Happy Days and for characters in series like Columbo and Mike Hammer.

In addition to his voice work, Tamiz also appeared as an on-screen actor in several film and television productions, including a role in the 1978 film L'amour violé and the 1984 miniseries Mistral's Daughter.

Gilles Tamiz passed away on January 8, 2014, in Chars, France. His extensive body of work has left a notable mark on French-language dubbing, particularly in the realm of animation from a formative era for the industry.
