Phil LaMarr
Description
Phil LaMarr is an American actor and voice actor with a prolific career spanning several decades, during which he has lent his voice to numerous animated series, films, and video games. Born in Los Angeles, California, in 1967, he developed an interest in acting during his school years and later attended Yale University, where he studied English and was a founding member of an improv comedy group. Following his education, he continued to study improvisational comedy in Chicago and became a member of the renowned comedy troupe The Groundlings.
LaMarr is widely recognized for his extensive work in Western animation, including starring roles such as the title character in Samurai Jack, John Stewart / Green Lantern in Justice League and Justice League Unlimited, Hermes Conrad in Futurama, and Wilt in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. He was also one of the original cast members of the sketch comedy series Mad TV.
In the realm of anime and anime-inspired productions, LaMarr has contributed his voice to several notable projects. He provided the voice for Dusk in the 2006 anime film Tekkonkinkreet. He also voiced the character Duo in the segment titled Program for The Animatrix, a collection of short films set in the world of The Matrix. Additional anime voice roles include multiple characters in Afro Samurai and its sequel, Afro Samurai: Resurrection, where he voiced characters such as Teenage Afro.
