Eiji Kanie was a Japanese actor and voice actor born on November 21, 1941, in Tokyo, Japan. He was active in the anime industry from 1971 until his untimely death in 1985 and was affiliated with the talent agency Aoni Production. Kanie passed away on October 13, 1985, at the age of 43 due to a subarachnoid hemorrhage. He was also noted to have skill in the Spanish language.

Kanie is most prominently remembered for his roles in two major franchises of the early 1980s. He was the first voice actor to play the character Ramenman in the original Kinnikuman television series, a role he performed from 1983 until 1985. Following his death, the role was taken over by Banjō Ginga. He also provided the voice for the Zentraedi commander Vrlitwhai Kridanik in the influential series The Super Dimension Fortress Macross and its film compilation, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?.

Kanie's career was heavily focused on the mecha and science fiction genres that dominated anime at the time. His filmography includes a wide range of roles in numerous series and films. He played military and leadership roles such as Von Stein in the compilation film Document Taiyou no Kiba Dougram, Socrat Tes in Armored Fleet Dairugger XV, and Zeller in Powered Armor Dorvack. In Kōsoku Denjin Albegas, he voiced two distinct characters: Dr. Mizuki and President Azasu. His work in the super robot genre also included the role of Godheid in Video Warrior Laserion. Beyond these, his voice can be heard in other major productions of the era, including Space Battleship Yamato III, Space Runaway Ideon, and Fist of the North Star.

In addition to character roles, Kanie was frequently employed as a narrator, a testament to his commanding vocal presence. He served as the narrator for the television series The Ultraman, the feature film Lensman, and the first episode of the series Dirty Pair.
