Lawrence Bayne is a Canadian actor and voice actor born in Toronto, Ontario, on November 11, 1960. Before pursuing acting, he was a singer and guitarist in the music industry, having been signed to a record label as a teenager. After several years in music, he trained at The Second City comedy club in Toronto, where he developed skills in comedy and performed in various television variety shows.

Bayne is known for his extensive voice work in animated series, often providing voices for antagonists and characters with a commanding presence. One of his most recognized voice roles is Cable in the iconic 1990s series X-Men: The Animated Series. He also voiced other characters in the same series, including Erik the Red, Fabian Cortez, and Captain America. He later returned to the role in the 2024 revival series X-Men '97, voicing Carl Denti, also known as the X-Cutioner.

In the anime series Spider Riders and its follow-up, Spider Riders: Yomigaeru Taiyou, Bayne provided the English voice for the primary antagonist, Mantid, the leader of the Invectid Nation. His other notable voice roles in animated and anime-influenced series include Kortan in Highlander: The Animated Series, Rock Zilla in My Dad the Rock Star, Nazmul in Di-Gata Defenders, and Raven in Gargoyles. He also voiced Hercules in Mythic Warriors: Guardians of the Legend, Fangburn and Killconey in Redwall, and multiple characters, including Inka Dinka Doo, in Donkey Kong Country.

Beyond animation and anime, Bayne has had a prolific career in live-action television, often playing authoritative or villainous characters. He is known for his roles as Victor Pearson in Strange Days at Blake Holsey High, Davenport in La Femme Nikita, and Dr. Hypnoto in The Famous Jett Jackson. His voice work also extends to video games, including roles in Street Fighter III: New Generation, Street Fighter III: Third Strike, and X-Men: Mutant Academy. He has also appeared in music videos, most notably in the video for the Pink Floyd song Learning to Fly.
