Edgar Wald

Description
Edgar Wald is a Mexican actor and voice actor known for his extensive work in Latin American Spanish dubbing, particularly during the 1980s and 1990s while based in Los Angeles. His career is notable for providing the Spanish-language voices for numerous characters in Japanese anime series that were dubbed for broadcast in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries.

Wald's voice acting portfolio in anime includes a variety of roles across multiple series. He voiced Giorgio in the series Science Fiction Saiyuki Starzinger. In the Tatsunoko Productions series Time Bokan, he took on the roles of both the Narration and the character Grocky, also known as Ruffino. For the mecha anime Kotetsu Zieg, he was the voice of Senjiro Shiba. His work in the series Video Warrior Laserion included the role of Coronel Mason, and he is also credited with providing Voces adicionales (additional voices) for the series Magnos The Robot. A comprehensive list of his anime dubbing credits from that era also includes roles in Captain Future, Dino Mech Gaiking, Hello! Sandybell, and Space Adventure Cobra, among others.

Beyond these specific titles, Wald is perhaps most widely recognized in Latin America for his role as the voice of Optimus Prime in the original Transformers Generation 1 animated series and its associated movie. His voice work was not limited to animation; his career spanned dubbing for live-action Hollywood films and television series as well. His work represents a significant contribution to the Latin American dubbing industry during a key era when many Japanese anime series were being localized for Spanish-speaking audiences.
