Gioacchino Maniscalco is an Italian actor and voice actor known for his extensive work in dubbing foreign films and animated series for the Italian audience. Born in Palermo on September 16, 1954, he developed his craft from an early age, forming the theater company I Draghi with Luigi Maria Burruano while still in high school. He later attended the National Academy of Dramatic Arts in Rome on a scholarship, where his teachers included Orazio Costa, Sergio Tofano, and Luca Ronconi. Following his graduation, Maniscalco passed a Rai audition and began his career as an actor in television dramas and theater productions, working with prominent companies such as those led by Tino Buazzelli and Salvo Randone.

Maniscalco transitioned into voice acting, becoming a prolific voice for animated series and films. Among his most recognized roles in anime is the character Jan Coogh in the series Science Fiction Saiyuki Starzinger. His other notable anime voice roles include Lord Yupa in the Italian dubbing of the film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind and the Vice Principal in Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu. Beyond animation, he built a substantial career dubbing the voices of numerous international actors in live-action films and television series. His dubbing portfolio includes providing the Italian voice for actors such as Christopher McDonald, Christopher Walken, Christopher Reeve, Christopher Lambert, Kevin Kline, James Belushi, Julian Sands, Nathan Lane, Malcolm McDowell, Forest Whitaker, and Vincent Cassel, among many others.

In addition to his on-screen and voice acting, Maniscalco has also worked as a dubbing director. He served as the dubbing director for the new 2006 edition of the anime series My Friend Patrasche (known in Italian as Il mio amico Patrasche). His career reflects a long-standing contribution to the Italian entertainment industry, particularly in the field of dubbing, where he has lent his voice to a wide array of characters across different genres and media.
