Description
Sanryo Odaka is a Japanese voice actor and actor born on May 5, 1947, in Saitama Prefecture. He is affiliated with the talent agency Production Tank. In addition to his work in voice acting, which he began in 1974, Odaka has also appeared in numerous films and television dramas as an on-screen actor. He possesses a range of diverse skills, including traditional street performance arts such as selling Gamanoabura (a type of patent medicine) and performing the Nankin Tamasudare (a bamboo screen dance), as well as Kodan storytelling, Gidayu (a style of chanted narration), and tap dancing.
Odaka has built a substantial career providing voices for anime, animated films, and dubbed versions of foreign productions. He is known for his role as the Maximal Deputy Commander Apache in the Transformers franchise, appearing in both the 1998 anime television series Beast Wars II: Chō Seimeitai Transformers and its 1998 film sequel Beast Wars II: Lio Convoy's Close Call!. He also voiced the evil clone of that character, Black Apache, in the same series.
His other notable anime roles include Arthur Hawkins in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Ittetsu Kamijō in Masōkishin Cybuster, and a technician in the landmark film Ghost in the Shell. He has also voiced characters in long-running series such as Detective Conan, Natsume's Book of Friends, and Kekkaishi. His filmography extends to more recent productions, with roles in the 2024 anime series T・P BON and The Demon Prince of Momochi House.
