Thomas Albus is a German actor and voice artist born in Attendorn, Germany in 1959. He began his career in broadcasting after studying at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, securing his first speaking roles with Bavarian Radio in 1980. His early work demonstrated a talent for improvisation, parody, and comedy, leading to the creation of numerous sketch series for the radio. A notable early achievement was his convincing 1988 live impersonation of a Soviet cosmonaut on the radio program Zündfunk, a performance so believable that it was picked up by news agencies and mentioned on the German news program Tagesthemen.

Albus transitioned to voice acting for film and television in the mid-1980s with Bavaria Film. His voice became widely recognized in Germany through various avenues, including as the narrator for the documentary series Cousteau – Abenteuer Ozean in the mid-1990s and for many years as a station voice and commentator for television channels like ProSieben, as well as for the court shows Richter Alexander Hold and Lenßen & Partner.

Albus has lent his voice to a wide array of characters across anime and animated series. In the anime series Anime Sanjushi, based on The Three Musketeers, he provided the German voice for the character Rochefort. He is also known for his work in the Pokémon franchise, voicing the antagonist Phantom in the ninth Pokémon film, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. Beyond these roles, his extensive anime voice work includes multiple characters in the long-running series One Piece, such as Admiral Nelson, Flecki, Mister 4, and Bartholomäus Bär, as well as various roles in Pokémon and Inu Yasha.

His career is marked by frequent work on both animated and live-action productions. He has been a regular voice for numerous characters in major international series, including Joe Swanson in Family Guy, Troy McClure in The Simpsons, and Captain Hero in Drawn Together. He also voiced the character Bruce the shark in the German dub of Finding Nemo. His collaborations span various genres, with notable roles in live-action series such as Sandor The Hound Clegane and Hodor in Game of Thrones, and Gustus in The 100.
