Yumi Nakatani, also known by the name Yumi Nakatani, is a Japanese voice actress who was active in the anime industry from the late 1970s through the early 2000s. She was born on June 7, 1950, in Tokyo, Japan. Her career began in 1978 with a role in the anime series SF西游记 Starzinger.

Nakatani is particularly recognized for her performances in numerous mecha and science fiction anime series from the 1970s and 1980s. One of her earliest and most notable roles was as Jun Honoo in the 1974 television series Great Mazinger. She reprised this role for several compilation and crossover movies, including Great Mazinger tai Getter Robo G: Kuuchuu Dai-Gekitotsu and Grendizer - Getter Robo G - Great Mazinger Kessen! Daikaijuu.

Another significant role was Crowley Hamon, the second-in-command to Ramba Ral in the original Mobile Suit Gundam television series from 1979. She continued this role in the compilation Mobile Suit Gundam: The Movie Trilogy. Her filmography from this period also includes roles in Space Pirate Captain Harlock, Be Forever Yamato, and The Galaxy Express 999.

Beyond the mecha genre, Nakatani's voice work was versatile. She played Eliza Leagan, a rival character, in the long-running and popular series Candy Candy, as well as its movies Candy Candy - Haru no Yobigoe and Candy Candy - Candy no Natsu Yasumi. In the 1980s, she took on roles in a wide variety of shows, such as Tamako Takada in Hai Step Jun, Yû's mother in Fist of the North Star, and appearances in series like Dr. Slump and Gegege no Kitarō.

Throughout her career, Nakatani frequently collaborated with a consistent group of voice actors, including古谷徹 (Tōru Furuya), 神谷明 (Akira Kamiya), 銀河万丈 (Banjō Ginga), and 柴田秀勝 (Hidekatsu Shibata), appearing alongside them in numerous productions. Her filmography shows a strong and enduring association with director 富野由悠季 (Yoshiyuki Tomino), for whom she provided voices in several projects, including the Mobile Suit Gundam series and Densetsu Kyojin Ideon.

Her career extended into the 1990s and beyond with roles in series such as Project ARMS and a guest appearance in Sgt. Frog. Her last credited voice role to date was in the 2004 anime adaptation of Phoenix.
