Waka Kanda

Waka Kanda is a Japanese voice actor born on March 20, 1962, in Gifu Prefecture. She began her career in the early 1980s and is affiliated with the talent agency Realize Promotion.

Kanda has built a career with numerous roles in anime television series, original video animations, and films. In television, she is known for her role as Angela MacDowell in the 1992 Nippon Animation series The Girl in the Wind: Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair. She also voiced Tomoko Arikura in the 1991 television series Dear Brother. Her other television credits include the role of Soldie in Genesis Climber Mospeada, Irene in Heavy Metal L-Gaim, Jennifer in A Little Princess Sara, and various guest roles in series such as City Hunter, Esper Mami, and the original Captain Tsubasa.

Kanda was also active in the OVA format, which was prominent during the 1980s. She voiced the character Lan Komatsuzaki in the 1989 OVA series Blue Sonnet. She also played Shildy in the 1988 comedic OVA Ten Little Gall Force and reprised her role as Soldie in the 1985 Mospeada OVA Genesis Climber Mospeada: Love, Live, Alive. Her film work includes a leading role as Marin in the 1986 animated feature Windaria, also known as Once Upon a Time.

Throughout her career, Kanda has frequently collaborated with a number of fellow voice actors, including Sumi Shimamoto, Masako Katsuki, Sakiko Tamagawa, and Naoko Matsui, appearing in multiple projects with them.
