Tracey Hoyt

Tracey Hoyt is a Canadian voice actress born on January 14, 1964, in Chatham-Kent, Ontario. She is a graduate of York University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance, and is also an alumna of the Second City National Touring Company in Toronto. Her career in voice work began with live, phoned-in character performances for CIUT radio and radio dramas for CBC Radio.
Hoyt's career in animation took off with roles in the first English dubs of several Japanese anime projects. She is widely recognized as the original North American voice of Rini, the character also known as Chibiusa, in the DiC English adaptation of the Sailor Moon R series and in the three initial Sailor Moon movies. Her other early anime voice work included roles in Keroppi and Friends and Knights of the Zodiac. In the 2001 Japanese-Canadian animated series Pecola, she provided the voice for the character Hillary.
Beyond her work in dubbed anime, Hoyt has originated characters in numerous original animated productions. Her extensive voice filmography includes roles such as Me Bear in The Care Bears' Big Wish Movie, Nick's Mom and Sally's Mom in The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, Ms. Deeds in Delilah & Julius, Guinivere in Bob and Margaret, and Ned in The Koala Brothers. She has also voiced hundreds of radio and television commercials. In addition to on-screen work, Hoyt has narrated audiobooks, including The Moment by Andrea Constand and No Good Asking by Fran Kimmel.
Hoyt has also contributed to the industry as a voice director and educator. She directed Mary Ito's narration of the novel Obasan and has taught improvisation extensively at The Second City Training Centre. She created and ran a commercial voiceover training program and now operates her own coaching and direction company, Tracey Hoyt Coaching & Direction, guiding both emerging and established voice talent. Her achievements include being a two-time Gemini Award nominee for her work on the CBC Television comedy series The Tournament.
