Naoto Tenhiro

Description
Naoto Tenhiro is a Japanese illustrator and manga artist from Kanagawa Prefecture, known primarily for his work on the Sister Princess franchise. Born on December 8th, his career as a creator began when he received an honorable mention in the 1988 Kodansha Chiba Tetsuya Manga Award. He later achieved a semi-finalist position in the 1996 Four Seasons Contest hosted by Monthly Afternoon, which marked his professional debut as an illustrator.

Tenhiro is best recognized as the illustrator for the Sister Princess light novel series, written by Sakurako Kimino. The series was serialized in Dengeki G's Magazine from March 1999 to September 2003, and his character designs became central to the franchise's identity. His involvement with Sister Princess extended to its many adaptations. He is credited for the character designs and original illustrations that formed the basis of the 2001 anime television series and its sequel, Sister Princess: RePure, which aired in 2002. Beyond the anime, his designs were also used for the PlayStation visual novels released in 2001 and 2002.

In addition to his foundational work on Sister Princess, Tenhiro contributed to other notable projects in the early 2000s. He served as the character designer for the 2005 simulation game Princess Maker 4, a role that brought his distinctive visual style to a long-standing franchise. His other credits include illustrating the light novel series Hatsukoi Magical Blitz by Shouta Asuka, which was published by Shueisha from 2005 to 2007, and later adapting that series into a manga. He is also the author of manga series such as World's End, Funzaka-chan, and Hitsuji-kun nara Kiss Shite Ageru.

Tenhiro's artistic identity is characterized by a detailed and elaborate style, often featuring characters in intricate costumes with abundant lace. His drawing style evolved from a sharper aesthetic in the late 1990s to a rounder, softer look that was solidified through his work on Sister Princess. This style, known for its rich and complex visual texture, made him a significant figure in the rise of all-ages moe anime and game illustrations in the early 2000s. Following a period of active work that included serialized magazines and doujinshi sales at events like Comiket under his circle CIELO, his public creative output appears to have ceased around 2016.
