Arryn Zech
Description
Arryn Zech is an American voice actress known for her work in animation, anime, and video games. Born in Rota, Spain, and raised in New Braunfels, Texas, she developed an early interest in performing arts, participating in local theater and attending the North East School of the Arts in San Antonio, where she majored in musical theater. She later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, concentrating in copy editing and design.
Zech's career in voice acting began in 2013 with the Austin-based production company Rooster Teeth. Her first major role was Dr. Emily Grey in the long-running web series Red vs. Blue. That same year, she was cast by the late creator Monty Oum as Blake Belladonna in the original anime-influenced CG-animated series RWBY. This role would become her most iconic, as she has continued to voice the character across numerous volumes of the main series, the spin-off RWBY Chibi, and various video game adaptations including Smite, Paladins, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, and RWBY: Arrowfell. She reprised the role for the English dub of the anime adaptation, RWBY: Ice Queendom, and in the crossover film Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen.
Beyond her foundational work with Rooster Teeth, Zech has expanded her career to include roles in English dubs of Japanese anime. In the 2020s, she voiced a guest role as "The Ripper" in Wandering Witch: The Journey of Elaina. She was then cast in more prominent anime roles, including Nagisa Natsunagi in The Detective Is Already Dead and Gentiane in the anime adaptation of the video game Girls' Frontline. Her voice work has also extended into video game dubbing, with a notable recent role as Black Swan in the popular game Honkai: Star Rail.
In addition to her voice acting, Zech has pursued her passion for music. She has studied songwriting, attending the Berklee College of Music for a professional certification, and has been working on her own music, with plans to release an extended play. Throughout her career, she has been a frequent guest at fan conventions across the world, often appearing alongside her RWBY castmates to connect with audiences.
