Aldo Massasso

Description
Aldo Massasso was an Italian actor and voice actor whose career spanned over five decades, encompassing theatre, film, television, and dubbing. Born in Montegrosso d'Asti, Piedmont, on May 25, 1933, he began his professional journey in the late 1950s at the Teatro Stabile in Turin. From there, his activity expanded across the entire entertainment industry, establishing him as a versatile and dedicated performer.

Throughout his extensive career, Massasso worked as both an actor and a dubbing director, also contributing as an adapter and screenwriter for film dialogues. His on-screen appearances were numerous, with a filmography including roles in a wide variety of Italian cinema, from commedie sexy to poliziotteschi and horror films. He appeared in movies such as Non si deve profanare il sonno dei morti in 1974, Il cinico, l'infame, il violento in 1977, and had notable collaborations with director Dario Argento in films like Il fantasma dell'Opera in 1998 and Non ho sonno in 2001. His work in television was equally prolific, with parts in RAI miniseries such as Vita di Cavour, La donna di quadri, and Lo scandalo della banca romana.

Beyond his performance work, Massasso was deeply committed to the welfare and recognition of actors within the industry. Starting in the 1960s, he was an active member of actors' unions, first with the Società Attori Italiani and later with the Sindacato Attori Italiani, where he served as part of the national secretariat. His dedication to the profession led to his appointment in the 1980s to represent actors on the Central Commission for Cinematography. In his later years, he continued this advocacy by offering his expertise in cinema and dubbing to the Forum Artisti Interpreti FISTel CISL.

In the realm of theatre, Massasso was not only a performer but also a producer and educator. In the early 1990s, he ran his own company, Latina Teatro, alongside his wife, actress Laura Ambesi. Based in Latina, the company was active in both theatrical production and the training of new actors, working with director Walter Manfrè.

Aldo Massasso passed away in Rome on October 11, 2013.
