Ruth Hollyman

Description
Ruth Hollyman is a British voice actor and theatre professional known for her work in English-language dubs of Japanese video games produced during the late 1990s. Her career in voice acting is closely tied to a period she spent living and working in Tokyo, Japan.

Hollyman co-founded a children's theatre company during her residence in Tokyo from 1996 to 2000. This period formed the basis for her entry into the local voiceover industry. Her most recognized voice roles are from this era and include character work in major Sega game productions. She provided the English voice for the character Nozomi Harasaki in the 1999 Dreamcast game Shenmue and its 2001 cinematic compilation, Shenmue: The Movie. Her work on Shenmue also included voicing the additional character Kayoko Ito. Concurrently, she voiced the character Lily Klein in the 2000 survival horror game Resident Evil: Survivor.

Following her return to the United Kingdom, Hollyman transitioned away from voice acting for games to focus on a career in theatre. She is based in Edinburgh, Scotland, where she co-founded and serves as the Creative Director for Strange Town, a theatre company. Her work in this field also involves directing, arts management, and writing, with extensive experience in youth and community theatre.
