Chiaki Kuriyama

Description
Chiaki Kuriyama is a Japanese actress, model, and singer who has also performed voice acting roles in animated films and video games. Born on October 10, 1984, in Tsuchiura, Ibaraki Prefecture, she began her career in entertainment at the age of five as a child model for magazines like Nicola and Pichi Lemon. She transitioned to acting in the mid-1990s, gaining recognition in Japanese films such as Battle Royale (2000) and achieving international fame for her role as Gogo Yubari in Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Vol. 1 (2003).

Kuriyama's voice acting work, while a smaller part of her overall portfolio, includes roles in notable animated projects. In 2008, she lent her voice to the character Midori Mitsuya in the animated film The Sky Crawlers, directed by Mamoru Oshii. In this Production I.G film, she was part of a cast that included fellow live-action actors Rinko Kikuchi and Ryo Kase. This role connected her with actor Shosuke Tanihara, who also voiced a character in the film.

Kuriyama took on her first lead role in an animated feature with the 2012 CGI film Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker, a prequel to the Dragon Age II video game. She voiced the protagonist, the knight-heroine Cassandra Pentaghast. This project marked another collaboration with Tanihara, who also had a voice role in the film. In 2010, she voiced the character Kuronosuke, a honeybee, in the animated short film Wake up!! TAMALA. Her other voice credits include a role in the 1999 anime series EDEN's BOwY as Konyako Persia and providing the voice for the character inside the Elizabeth costume in an episode of Yorinuki Gintama-san in 2010. She also voiced the character Misuzu Asagi in the 2011 video game Yakuza: Dead Souls.
