Cyril Aubin

Description
Cyril Aubin is a French actor primarily known for his work in television and theatre, who has also built a substantial career in dubbing, lending his voice to numerous animated series and films. Born on June 25, 1969, in Paris, he began his on-screen acting career as a child in 1980, with small roles in films such as La Soupe aux choux and Croque la vie. He gained widespread public recognition in France during the mid-1990s for his comedic roles in popular AB Productions sitcoms, most notably as the rocker Johnny in Le Miel et les Abeilles and as Benoît in Les Nouvelles Filles d'à côté. Parallel to his on-screen appearances, Aubin has maintained a strong commitment to theatre, performing in classic and contemporary plays throughout his career, with productions including works by Molière, Marivaux, and Shakespeare.

While Aubin's voice is familiar from dubbing live-action films and series, providing the French voice for actors like Jamie Kennedy in the Scream films, he has a significant body of work in animation. He is well-known within the anime community for his contributions to several major Japanese franchises. He was the voice of Makoto Hyuga in the initial French dub of the landmark series Neon Genesis Evangelion, a role he later reprised for the film Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance. He also took on the lead role of Shinji Ikari in the French versions of the films Evangelion: Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion.

In the realm of animated science fiction, Aubin voiced the character Leon Fayden in the 2007 Japanese CG film Vexille, which is set in a cyberpunk future where Japan has isolated itself from the world. His other animation voice work includes roles in series such as Les Quatre Fantastiques: Les Plus Grands Héros de tous les temps and Iron Man: Armored Adventures. Aubin's career demonstrates a versatility that spans live-action comedy, classical theatre, and a wide array of voice acting in both Western and Japanese animation, making him a familiar presence to French audiences across different media. He has also occasionally revisited his earlier iconic roles, such as making a guest appearance as his famous character Johnny in a 2019 episode of the series Les Mystères de l'amour.
