Petra Barthel is a German actress and voice actress born in Erfurt, Germany, in 1951. Her career began with training at the State Drama School in Rostock, followed by stage engagements at prominent theaters including the Volksbühne in Berlin, the Theater am Turm in Frankfurt, and the Schauspielhaus in Hamburg. In addition to her stage work, she appeared in several East German television films productions such as Kalter Engel and Abschied vom falschen Paradies.
Within the field of animation and anime, Barthel is known for providing the German voice for the character Reiko Ichinose in the 2007 anime film The Piano Forest. Beyond this performance, her voice can be heard in a range of other German-language anime adaptations. Her roles include the narrator in Air Gear, Shenhua in Black Lagoon and its sequel Black Lagoon: The Second Barrage, Shiki Ryougi in The Garden of Sinners film series, and Sayaka Miyafuji in Strike Witches.
