Susumu Ishikawa was a Japanese singer, actor, and voice actor, born on July 13, 1933, in Tochigi Prefecture. He passed away on October 29, 2012. Before his career in entertainment, he was a member of the group sounds band Danny Iida and Paradise King. He was affectionately known by the nickname Kyupei.

Ishikawa is most widely recognized for his role as the voice of Pero, the protagonist cat, in the Toei Animation film Puss 'n Boots from 1969. He continued to voice the character in its sequels, Nagagutsu Sanjūshi and Puss 'n Boots Travels Around the World, making the role a defining part of his career. The character Pero became a symbol for Toei Animation.

Beyond this signature role, Ishikawa's primary legacy lies in his contribution to anime music. He was a prominent singer of theme songs for numerous television anime series during the 1960s and 1970s, a period often considered a golden era for anime songs. His extensive discography includes the theme songs for beloved series such as Obake no Q-Taro, Perman, and Dokonjo Gaeru. He also performed songs for Kaibutsu-kun and inserted songs for the Puss 'n Boots films. His dual career as a singer and voice actor made him a familiar and beloved figure in Japanese popular culture during the medium's formative years.
