Juan Cuadra, born Juan Cuadra Escobar on November 6, 1945, was a Nicaraguan voice actor who built an extensive career in Los Angeles. He began his professional life in his native Nicaragua, creating commercials for major companies and working on radio soap operas before emigrating to the United States following the 1972 Managua earthquake.

His entry into dubbing came shortly after his arrival in the U.S., when a friend took him to a studio near Universal Studios for a voice test. This opportunity launched a long and prolific career lending his voice to countless films, television series, animated productions, and anime. Cuadra was based in Los Angeles for his work in the dubbing industry.

Cuadra's voice acting work in anime and animation was diverse. He is known for providing the voice of Rey Morfeo (King Morpheus) in the English-language Los Angeles dub of the 1989 animated film Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland. His other notable anime roles included voicing various characters in the series Detective Conan, such as Gozo Hatamoto and Kenjin Hanaoka. He was also part of the voice cast for the iconic series Transformers G1, where he voiced Windcharger, Sparkplug, and Ratchet in some episodes. His work extended to other animated projects, including The Wizard of Oz and providing various voices for The Superbook.

Beyond animation, Juan Cuadra had a substantial career dubbing live-action films. His extensive filmography includes voicing characters in major Hollywood productions for the Spanish-language market. Some of his most recognized roles include voicing Admiral Ackbar in the original dub of Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, providing additional voices in Forrest Gump, and voicing characters in films such as Batman, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Top Gun. He was also the voice of Ivan Drago in the Los Angeles dubbing of Rocky IV.

Juan Cuadra retired from dubbing a few years before his passing. He died on July 3, 2019. His legacy in the voice acting community continues through his son, Ulises Cuadra, who is also a prominent voice actor in Los Angeles.
