Yukinaga Shiraishi is a Japanese actor and voice actor born in 1955 in Tokyo, whose real name is Yoshinaga Shiraishi. He is best known for his role as Kenichi Gou, the leader of the Voltron-like super robot in the classic 1977 anime series Super Electromagnetic Machine Voltes V. During the original run of Voltes V, he was affiliated with the theater company Wakakusa. His career includes another notable role in the anime series Fight! General Daimos, where he voiced the character Gast. Following a period of retirement from the entertainment industry, Shiraishi was sought out by the production company Banpresto for the release of the video game New Super Robot Wars, which featured Voltes V. The game’s staff successfully contacted him, leading to his return to voice acting for the franchise, a role he continued in subsequent titles such as Super Robot Wars Alpha 2. His voice work as Kenichi Gou has also been preserved in merchandise, including the DX Soul of Chogokin Volt In Box Voltes V toy released in 2020, which features his recorded dialogue.
