Description
Michael Reisz is an American actor, voice actor, writer, and producer known for his work in anime dubs and primetime television. Born Michael Elliot Reisz on March 25, 1968, in Los Angeles, California, he began his career in the mid-1990s with appearances in live-action television series such as Star Trek: Voyager. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and was trained as a lawyer before pursuing a career in entertainment.
Reisz's voice acting career is closely associated with several high-profile anime series dubbed by Saban Entertainment in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He is perhaps best known for his role as Yamato Matt Ishida, the brooding older brother and Digimon partner to Gabumon, in the English adaptations of Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02. He later took on the lead role of Takuya Kanbara in Digimon Frontier. His work in the Digimon franchise also includes voicing IceDevimon in Digimon Tamers and reprising the role of Matt Ishida in several films, including Digimon: The Movie. Beyond Digimon, Reisz provided voices for prominent roles in other major anime series, including the villainous Mizuki in Naruto and its sequel Naruto: Shippuden, and the character Rock in the feature film Metropolis.
In the Transformers franchise, Reisz voiced the character Wedge in the 2001 animated series Transformers: Robots in Disguise. Wedge is the leader of the Autobot Build Team, a group of construction vehicles. He is characterized as a headstrong and eager young warrior who, despite his small size, is determined to prove himself in battle. When Wedge and his teammates combine to form the larger Autobot Landfill, Reisz also provided the voice for this combined form, with Wedge assuming total mental control over the gestalt. This dual role is a notable example of his voice work in the series.
Reisz's career is marked by a significant transition from on-screen and voice acting to writing and producing. He became a writer for the critically acclaimed legal dramedy Boston Legal, working on the series until its conclusion in 2008 and serving as a co-producer. He later served as a writer and executive producer for the fantasy series Shadowhunters. His extensive writing credits also include episodes for series such as Charmed, Hawaii Five-0, In Plain Sight, and The Client List. This body of work as a writer and producer for primetime television constitutes a major part of his professional achievements.
