Heidi Lenhart

Description
Heidi Lenhart is an American actress recognized for her work in both live-action television and anime voice acting, primarily during the 1980s and 1990s. For much of her anime dubbing career, she performed under the pseudonym Melody Lee, a name that is also sometimes spelled Melodee Lee.

Lenhart's entry into anime voice acting came early in her career. One of her notable roles from this period is providing the voice for Josephine Jo March in the 1988 anime television series adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's classic novel, Little Women. This role places her within the early wave of English-language dubbing for anime series being distributed in North America.

Throughout the 1990s, she became a familiar voice in the industry, often associated with projects produced or dubbed by companies like Streamline Pictures. She is particularly known for her work in the El Hazard franchise, voicing the character Afura Mann in the original animated video series El Hazard: The Magnificent World in 1995 and its subsequent television adaptation, El Hazard: The Wanderers, in 1997, both credited under the name Melody Lee. Her other voice credits from this era include the animated film Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honnêamise as Riqunni Nonderaiko, the OVA series Moldiver as Agent Sayuri, Orguss 02 as Natamura, and the series Hyper Doll as Mew Fumizuki. She also provided voices for English adaptations of children's anime, such as Sandy Brown in Noozles and for characters in Eagle Riders.

Lenhart's voice acting work frequently intersected with that of her older sister, Tifanie Lenhart Chaney, who is also a voice actress. Her career in animation credits largely concluded in the late 1990s, after which she focused on live-action roles, most notably the Au Pair film series, and philanthropic work. Her contributions as an anime voice actor are part of the foundational era of English dubs that helped introduce anime to a wider Western audience.
