José María Gagino Vidal, known professionally as Chema Gagino, is a Spanish actor, director, and screenwriter born in Corme, A Coruña, in 1964. He began his career in the audiovisual sector in 1985, working as a dubbing actor and dubbing director. His body of work includes a significant number of voice acting roles for Galician-language dubs of anime series and films. As noted, he provided the voice for the character Tochiro Oyama in the Galician dub of the film Arcadia of My Youth. His other notable anime credits include the roles of Shu in the Dragon Ball Z films Battle of Gods and Resurrection F, Toji Suzuhara in Neon Genesis Evangelion, and Kaito Kid in the Case Closed (Detective Conan) series and movie. He also voiced characters in series such as One Piece, Black Jack, Samurai Champloo, and Crayon Shin-chan. Beyond anime, Gagino has been the dubbing voice for a wide range of international actors, including Woody Allen, Jerry Lewis, Kenneth Branagh, Sean Penn, and Leonardo DiCaprio. His work in dubbing also extends to directing, where he has overseen the Galician dubbing for major productions like Star Wars and Lawrence of Arabia. Parallel to his voice work, Chema Gagino has had an extensive career as a director and screenwriter for Galician television, directing series such as Mareas Vivas and Terra de Miranda. His work in television earned him a nomination for Best Director at the Mestre Mateo Awards in 2002 for Terra de Miranda, and he won the award for Best Screenplay that same year for the series Entre bateas.
