Carles Canut was a highly respected Spanish actor whose extensive career spanned theatre, film, television, and voice dubbing. He was born Carles Canut i Bartra on September 23, 1944, in Gerri de la Sal, Lleida, Spain. His professional journey began in 1963 in independent theatre, and over the following decades, he built a remarkable career, participating in approximately one hundred stage productions and around seven thousand theatrical performances. He was also a theatre director and served as the artistic director of the Teatre Romea in Barcelona. Canut passed away on September 27, 2018, in his hometown.

In addition to his stage work, Canut was an active voice actor, contributing significantly to the dubbing of films and animated series into Catalan and Spanish. His work in anime is primarily associated with Catalan dubs produced for broadcast in Catalonia. One of his noted roles in this field was providing the voice for the character Duc de Linoleum in the Catalan version of the classic anime series Princess Knight. His voice work in anime also included the role of Follet Karín in various Dragon Ball productions, such as the Dragon Ball TV series, Dragon Ball Movie 3: Mystical Adventure, and Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge. Other anime credits encompass Inspector Bully in Around The World With Willy Fog, A-19 in Dragon Ball Z, Han and Zangief in Street Fighter II V, and Rei Hoshino in Space Warrior Baldios, all for Catalan dubs. He also voiced roles in the Spanish dubs of films like Escaflowne: The Movie as Mogra and The Wind Rises as Castorp.

His dubbing work was not limited to animation; he also lent his voice to live-action films for Catalan-language versions, including prominent movies such as Schindler's List and Bride of Frankenstein. In the realm of Spanish-language animation, he voiced the character Professor Miguel Humbert in the 2012 film Tad, The Lost Explorer.

Throughout his career, Carles Canut received several notable accolades recognizing his artistic contributions. In 2008, he was awarded the Max Award for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the play Plataforma. He also received the prestigious Creu de Sant Jordi, a distinction granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya, in 2016.
