Mimmo Craig

Description
Mimmo Craig, born Guglielmo Craig in La Spezia, Italy, on June 10, 1925, was an Italian actor whose career spanned theater, film, and television, with occasional forays into voice acting. He passed away in Milan on September 8, 2016.

Craig's career was primarily rooted in performance. He began in the theater after World War II with the Errepi Company of Remigio Paone and later worked with the company of Dario Fo. In the following decades, he was active at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan under director Giorgio Strehler. He gained significant popularity in Italy through his long-running appearance in the Carosello television advertising series for Sasso oil, which aired between 1963 and 1976, where his character's catchphrase became well-known. His screen work included numerous film and television roles, with his last television appearance being in 2004.

His voice acting work, while described as sporadic or occasional, formed a distinct part of his career. He provided voices for several animated series. Most notably for an anime audience, he voiced the character Zio, or Uncle, in the Italian dub of the 1980 Japanese-Spanish animated series The Adventures of Little El Cid, known in Italian as Ruy, il piccolo Cid. This series was dubbed in Italy by the Merak Film studio. Beyond anime, his voice acting credits included lending his voice to the animated series Monciccì. He also worked in dubbing for live-action television, providing the Italian voice for actor Nicholas Colasanto in the popular American sitcom Cheers.
