Miki Fukui

Description
Miki Fukui is a former Japanese voice actor from Gifu Prefecture, born on December 14. Her career was marked by two distinct periods of activity, during which she was known for her husky voice and her ability to portray a wide range of characters, from young boys to lively animals.

Fukui's path to voice acting began in 2001 when she enrolled in the Voice Actor Talent Course at the Toei Animation Research Institute. After graduating in 2003, she joined the talent agency Aoni Production, marking the start of her professional career with supporting roles in series such as BECK and ONE PIECE. She initially retired from the industry in 2006 but later decided to return. To refresh her skills, she trained at the Amusement Media Academy in 2009 and re-entered the voice acting world in 2010 under the agency Kenyu Office.

Her second period of activity, which lasted until her final retirement in 2018, saw her take on a variety of roles in television anime, films, and video games. In television animation, she was known for playing Haruo in the long-running series Doraemon and providing voices in popular shows like Naruto: Shippuden and Kingdom. She also voiced Mozu in One Piece and portrayed characters in Gon and Mr. Osomatsu. Fukui contributed her voice to the film adaptations of the video game CLANNAD and voiced a character in the game Monster Hunter X.

Among her later film roles are the two examples provided in the query. In the 2018 anime film Penguin Highway, based on the novel by Tomihiko Morimi, she voiced the character Suzuki-kun. She also played the role of Yoshiko Hamada in the series Sumiko.

Beyond anime, Fukui had an extensive career in dubbing foreign films and television series into Japanese. Her notable dubbing roles included Dalton Lambert in the horror film Insidious, Neckbone in the film Mud, and a role in the television series Desperate Housewives. She also voiced Cuckoo-Loca in the animated series Mickey and the Roadster Racers and was the voice of Ultraman Boy in the Ultraman Boy no Urukoro series.

For personal reasons, Miki Fukui retired from the voice acting industry in 2018. Following her departure, several of her recurring roles were taken over by other voice actors. Asami Yaguchi succeeded her as Haruo in Doraemon, Aiko Hibi took over the role of Mozu in One Piece, and Shibuya Azuki became the new voice for Cuckoo-Loca.
