Description
Chiaki is a Japanese tarento and voice actress, born Chiaki Fujimoto on October 26, 1971, in Maizuru, Kyoto. Her career in entertainment began after she won first place in a talent audition broadcast by Fuji TV in 1991. This victory led to her first major voice acting role as the title character in the long-running children's anime series Non-tan to Issho, which aired from 1992 to 1994. For this series, she not only provided the voice for Nontan but also performed the opening and ending theme songs.
Beyond voice acting, Chiaki gained widespread fame as the lead vocalist and guitarist of the pop group Pocket Biscuits. The group performed at the prestigious Kōhaku Uta Gassen in 1998 before disbanding in 2000.
Her most prominent and long-running voice role began in 2005, when she took over the voice of Dorami, the robotic sister of the iconic character Doraemon, in the long-running Doraemon television series. She has since reprised this role in numerous Doraemon theatrical films, including Doraemon: Nobita's New Great Adventure into the Underworld and Doraemon: Nobita and the Green Giant Legend. Her association with the franchise also includes performing insert songs for the films. In addition to her work on Doraemon, she also served as the narrator for the anime series Sockie's Frontier Quest.
